USGS × NOAA × n8n × Web Audio

Earth has a soundtrack.

Every earthquake becomes a note. Solar activity changes the tempo and timbre. Real USGS and NOAA data play a score that exists only in this moment. Put on your headphones.

From planet to sound

  1. USGS supplies earthquakes from the last 24 hours with magnitude 4.5 or higher.
  2. NOAA supplies the current planetary Kp index for solar activity.
  3. Magnitude sets volume, longitude sets pitch; Kp changes tempo and timbre.
  4. An n8n workflow calculates the same score as JSON. The browser plays it with Web Audio, without an audio file or tracking.

n8n workflow

Earthquakes and solar activity become an audible, animated score. Play Earth Orchestra live in your browser and download the importable n8n workflow.
