What you can do

• Check whether only one device is affected: does the app work on mobile data but not on Wi-Fi (or the other way round)?
• Close and reopen the app; if it still fails, restart the device.
• Update the app to the latest version.
• For video calls: allow camera and microphone in the system settings and ask a contact for a test call.
• If many people report problems at once, it is usually the provider: wait, and do not log in again and again.

How we measure

Every 5 minutes our server in Germany requests the public start page of WhatsApp. A service counts as “not reachable” only when two checks in a row fail. The measurement only shows whether the start page answers: single features, regions or the app can still be affected. This page is independent and has no connection to WhatsApp.
